Cecil Edmon Hinton, Jr., 79, of Tega Cay, South Carolina, passed away on October 18, 2026, at Wellmore of Tega Cay’s Rehabilitation Facility. He was born on May 1, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama, to Cecil Edmon Hinton, Sr. and Dora Marie Hinton.
Cecil grew up in Mobile and carried his Alabama roots with him all his life. He attended the University of South Alabama and served his country in the United States Army Reserve. For the past 48 years he called Tega Cay home, and it was there that he built a life full of family, friendship, and the everyday moments that mattered most to him.
Cecil was a devoted fan of Alabama football and the Carolina Panthers, and he could be counted on to cheer on the Crimson Tide on Saturdays and the Panthers on Sundays. His favorite times were spent with family and friends. Above all, Cecil had a gift for making everyone around him laugh.
Cecil is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Forsyth Hinton; his daughter, Heather Hinton Ivens-Brown, and her husband, Jonathan Ivens-Brown; and his grandson, Rhys Hinton Ivens-Brown, who was a special source of pride and joy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Unity Presbyterian Church, 303 Tom Hall Street, Fort Mill, SC 29715, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in memory Cecil Edmon Hinton, Jr.
Cecil will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
