She graduated from Waynesboro High School and Madison College, and taught school in Waynesboro and Albemarle County.
Ann married Herbert A. Pickford III in 1961 and moved to Albemarle County, Virginia. After Herbert’s death, she moved to Tega Cay, South Carolina to be near the rest of her family.
She is survived by her three children Herbert Allan IV, Susan Todd, and Linda Ann and her three grandchildren Jessica, Cassidy and William. Ann is also survived by her brother John and his wife Janet, their daughter Kathy and their granddaughter Gretchen.

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
