Any conservative can tell you that the media, the mainstream one, are biased. Their perfidy is well-known and stretches back, not decades, but centuries. Tulip Mania, a 1637 phenomenon, exploded on the scene when certain tulips sold for ten times their value. While there were no media as we know them, pamphlets, sermons, broadsheets, and other publications inflamed passions. But the real media damage came much later. The media, for example, Charles Mackay[i], blew it into a mass meltdown of the Dutch economy. Needless to say, it was not. The “mania’ was short-lived and did not adversely affect the Dutch economy, which at the time in the 17th Century, was one of the largest in the world.
Jump forward to the Piltdown Man, a scientific fraud as great as the vaccine scandal of our own time. In 1912, bone fragments were supposedly discovered and provided what was instantly referred to as the infamous “Missing Link.” Amateur antiquarian, Charlie Dawson, fraudulently presented it, and the press rushed to verify. Even accomplished scientists jumped on the bandwagon. Almost overnight, the Piltdown Man was trumpeted as the first Englishman. Alas, it all came tumbling down, much to the chagrin of all involved.
Now fast-forward to today. A new kind of media perfidiousness is on hand. In a horrific tragedy in British Columbia in which nine were killed and dozens wounded, the press bent themselves into pretzels to avoid calling a spade a spade. In the quiet town of Tumbler Ridge, BC, the worst Canadian shooting ever was perpetrated by a transgender individual, a man “transitioning” as a woman. But did the press reveal it so? Hardly. First, it was “her” and “she.” She killed her mother, then she went to the school and shot others. In another press release, it was “a female in a dress.” Sounds suspiciously overwrought if not tautological.
Later, the press reported on a “female” who took to shooting up a British Columbia high school. In another story, the “female” was described as one of the victims. Yet another reported that a “woman opened fire in a high school in Canada.” Yet another reported that were “10 dead, including the female suspect.” Canadian outlets like the National Post, CTV, and the Globe referred to the perpetrator as a “gunperson.” (Is this a person who resembles a gun?). In every case, press writers used female pronouns.
And so, the stories went, more than a dozen, not one reporting that this was a transgender man-into-womanesque individual. Finally, the not-so-mainstream media got it right. The shooter was a 19-year-old trans-identifying female who killed his mother and stepbrother before donning a dress and killing eight others at the school. One would have thought the gender of the individual was a state secret, so knotted were the press to tell the story inaccurately.
Of course, we know why the press proved reluctant to tell the story right. It’s incumbent upon them to continue the fable about transgenderism and those “identifying” as a sex opposite to their biological one. Comus has more than once urged readers to surf over to the leaked WPATH files to learn for themselves the lies we’ve been told about transgenderism (see https://tinyurl.com/mw9vvxne). From the beginning, the transgender ruse was a fable told by those who knew better but could not bring themselves to swim against the tide. Now, here we are trying to translate media stories into the truth.
When we add this to all the lies Fauci and Collins told us about the pandemic, is it any wonder that nearly no one believes the mainstream media about anything? This is a tragedy in and of itself. We need, desperately need, an honest and free press to tell us the truth about events going on in the world. One cannot help but wonder whether the new measles epidemic is not related to the nonsense peddled about the vaccine. Lamentably, when the free press publishes fabrications and equivocations about the world, we all lose. We lose because now we must try to ferret out the truth ourselves, and that is not something everyone has time to do. Instead, broad brushes are used to distort the truth on the right and the left. The upshot is not just disinformation, but potentially lethal misinformation and outright lies.
Readers should pay close attention to the Robert Dorgan story. It isn’t starting well. Major outlets being their story with, “a person….” The transgender man who posted crazed social media posts (Nazi rants and more) and fought against “anti-trans hate” during family legal battles (when he proclaimed himself a woman, his wife understandably divorced him). He killed two people and critically injured three others at a high school hockey game in Rhode Island.
Johannes Kepler, a 17th Century Scientific Revolutionary, studied and eventually penned much of what we know about the laws of planetary motion. When writing about it, he exclaimed, “Oh God, I am thinking thy thoughts after you.” It would appear today, in our agnostic and secular times, our media are exclaiming, “We are thinking your thoughts for you.”
While Comus will not comment on yet another shooting by yet another transgender individual, he will ask readers to keep an open mind as the press tries to tie this story into something that fits their social agenda.
Alas, our once rightly vaunted First Amendment has become a press shackled to their version of what they want the world to be. Not to put too fine a point on it, they want it to be anything that reeks of the Judeo-Christian tradition.
[i] Mackay penned a marvelously entertaining book titles Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds. Frankly, he inadvertently warned us about social media nonsense. The book had its own delusions but it is a delightful read.
