Harrisburg Global Academy will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, Nov. 5, to recognize the community partners, families and leaders who helped bring the Indian Land school to life.
The noon ceremony at the school’s campus, located at 11774 Harrisburg Road, will celebrate the founding board members, planning committee and supporters who helped make the school’s opening possible. Although the school has been serving students since September, the event provides an opportunity to recognize those involved in its development.
Principal Rivas will lead the program, which will include a student pledge and remarks from Jennifer Lucas and Justin Matthews of Alliance Education Services, Charter Institute at Erskine Superintendent Cameron Runyan and a teacher representative.
Harrisburg Global Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in kindergarten through sixth grade, with plans to expand to seventh and eighth grades in the coming years.
The school uses a workshop-based learning model that incorporates Spanish language instruction and STEM education throughout the school day. Students also have access to accelerated learning pathways that can provide opportunities to earn high school credit, along with extracurricular activities and after-school programs.
Current offerings include art, chess and badminton, with additional clubs and sports planned as the school grows.
Harrisburg Global Academy is authorized by the Charter Institute at Erskine. More information about the school and its programs is available at www.hgacharter.org.
