Baden and Thatcher Named September’s Coroplast Student-Athletes of the Month

Winthrop men’s soccer player Juma Baden and volleyball player Lexi Thatcher have been named the university’s Coroplast Student-Athletes of the Month for September.

Baden enjoyed a strong month for the Eagles, scoring six goals in six games. He found the net in five of Winthrop’s six September contests and currently ranks tied for 15th nationally in total goals.

Thatcher also produced an impressive September, recording 320 assists while adding 97 digs and 18 blocks. Her 10.00 assists per set led the Big South Conference during the month and ranks 29th in the NCAA.

Thatcher earned back-to-back Big South Setter of the Week awards during September. She also reached a career milestone during the month, surpassing 2,000 career assists in Winthrop’s Sept. 3 match against Virginia Tech.

The monthly honors recognize the accomplishments of Winthrop student-athletes across the university’s athletic programs. Baden and Thatcher’s performances helped highlight strong individual contributions in both men’s soccer and volleyball during the opening weeks of their respective seasons.
