Winthrop volleyball players Lexi Thatcher and Addison Torain have earned Big South Conference weekly honors following the Eagles’ 2-0 week.
Thatcher was named Setter of the Week for the third time this season, while Torain earned Libero of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.
Thatcher led Winthrop with 100 assists across two matches, averaging 11.11 assists per set. She also recorded 22 digs and four blocks.
She opened the week with 50 assists and 11 digs in a five-set victory over Charleston Southern, recording her seventh double-double of the season. Winthrop hit .278 in the match.
Against Presbyterian, Thatcher again totaled 50 assists in a four-set victory while adding five kills and three blocks. Her 100 assists and 11.11 assists per set were both conference highs for the week. Her two 50-assist performances tied for the most in the Big South.
Torain contributed 44 digs during the two victories, averaging 4.89 digs per set while making no errors on 22 serve-receive attempts.
She recorded 16 digs and five assists against Charleston Southern before establishing a career high with 28 digs against Presbyterian. Her 28-dig performance ranked second in the conference for the week, while her 4.89 digs per set ranked second.
Torain’s consecutive awards mark the first time a Winthrop libero has won the honor in back-to-back weeks since the award was introduced in 2020-21.
