The Winthrop University cross country teams competed in Boone, North Carolina, with the women placing eighth in the 6K and the men finishing ninth in the 8K.
Anna Conrad led the Eagles’ women’s team, placing 15th with a time of 21:52.2. Janie Spicer followed in 19th at 22:13.4.
Kelsey Martin finished 70th in 24:30.6, followed by Allison Reese in 71st at 24:31.3. Caidence Bazemore placed 84th in 25:24.9, while Lexi Marion rounded out the Winthrop runners in 89th at 25:48.3.
Spencer Shealy paced the men’s team, finishing 37th in the 8K with a time of 25:30.6. Ethan Gear placed 67th in 26:55.9, while Miles Carrier finished 78th in 27:31.5.
William Cohoon was 97th at 28:34.8, followed by Aiden Carrier in 103rd at 29:21.5 and Jordan Kent in 107th at 30:07.0.
The Eagles will return to competition Oct. 17 at the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
