Democratic Gubernatorial Candidates to Meet in Televised Debate

Three candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for South Carolina governor are set to face off in a televised debate Wednesday evening as the primary election enters its final days.

State Rep. Jermaine Johnson, businessman Billy Webster and attorney Mullins McLeod are scheduled to participate in the debate, where they will discuss their priorities and vision for the state.

The event comes as voters continue casting ballots ahead of Election Day, with early voting turnout reportedly reaching record levels. The debate offers candidates one of their final opportunities to make their case to voters before polls close.

Topics are expected to include key issues facing South Carolina and the candidates’ plans for addressing economic development, education, public safety and other statewide concerns.

The debate will begin at 7 p.m. in Columbia and will be broadcast statewide on South Carolina ETV.

With less than a week remaining before Election Day, the debate is expected to play a significant role in helping undecided voters compare the candidates and their platforms before casting their ballots.
