A Clover Police Department officer was arrested Thursday evening on domestic violence charges after she allegedly threatened her boyfriend with a firearm during an altercation in Chester County.
Chester County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 28. The girlfriend in the incident was identified as Mara Anderton, 44, a Clover Police Department officer.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Anderton threatened her boyfriend with a gun following an altercation. Deputies arrested her and transported her to the Chester County Detention Center.
Anderton was charged with Domestic Violence High and Aggravated, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Resisting Arrest.
The arrest comes less than a year after Anderton was recognized for her service to the community. The Clover Optimist Club named her Officer of the Year at its Annual Respect for Law Enforcement Dinner in 2025, where she was presented a plaque for outstanding service, dedication to the community, and commitment to the values of law enforcement. The Clover Police Department at the time called the award a reflection of her hard work and professionalism.
The Clover Police Department had not issued a statement regarding Anderton’s employment status as of the time of this report.
