If you have been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, the Humane Society of York County has two very special animals hoping to catch your eye this week.
Manfred the Cat: Quirky, Quiet, and Completely One of a Kind
Manfred is not your average cat, and that is exactly what makes him so lovable. This handsome two-year-old came to the HSYC through York County Animal Control, and he has been winning over staff ever since with his one-of-a-kind personality.
“He’s literally the funniest cat ever,” one staffer shared. “He sits completely still and then just looks all around and takes off running!” Equal parts hilarious and endearing, Manfred is described as sweet, cat-friendly, and “the biggest character we have.” If a silent stare, a judgy glance, and an adorable double chin sound like your ideal companion, he just might be your perfect match.
Despite his comedic energy, Manfred is actually looking for a calm, laid-back home. He loves softly batting at toys, watching out the window, and simply sitting in companionable silence with the people he loves. He is neutered, vaccinated, tested, and microchipped and can be found in the HSYC Cat Lounge.
Kennedy the Dog: Kisses, Tail Wags, and a Heart Full of Joy
Kennedy arrived at the shelter as a stray, but it did not take long for her personality to shine through. This joyful terrier mix is estimated to be just under two and a half years old, and she loves just about everyone she meets. She will happily offer kisses to prove it.
Kennedy is extremely dog friendly, great on a leash, and a self-described swimmer at heart. She loves car rides, thrives on attention, and brings medium to high energy to every adventure. She is spayed, vaccinated, tested, and microchipped and is ready for a family who can match her enthusiasm for life.
How to Adopt
Both Manfred and Kennedy are available for adoption now. To learn more or to set up a visit, call the Humane Society of York County at 803-802-0902 or visit humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org. So far in 2026, the shelter has already placed 185 pets into forever homes, and they are hoping Manfred and Kennedy are next.
