The Tega Cay Police Department is ramping up its traffic enforcement and community safety efforts following the receipt of a new state grant aimed at curbing impaired driving.
Chief Joey Crosby announced this week that the department was awarded funding from the State of South Carolina specifically to support DUI and traffic enforcement operations. The department has already put those funds to use, conducting two focused DUI enforcement periods throughout February. Officials say residents can expect to see additional high-visibility operations throughout the remainder of the year.

A Pillars-Based Approach to Policing
The department’s latest monthly statistics are framed by four “core pillars” that Chief Crosby says define the agency’s mission: protection of life, protection of property, traffic enforcement, and community engagement.
“These pillars guide our daily work and how we measure success in keeping Tega Cay one of the safest cities in South Carolina,” Crosby stated. The department has been heavily promoting this framework through public safety meetings and its official podcast, Protect and Connect.
Monthly Crime Snapshot
While traffic safety took center stage this month, the department also reported on recent property crimes. Officers investigated two notable incidents at local retail locations:
-
Shoplifting: One case involved a standard retail theft.
-
Missing Property: Officers responded to a report of a purse left behind by a customer; the item was discovered missing when the owner returned to retrieve it.
Prevention and Outreach
In light of the recent property reports, the department is reminding citizens to remain vigilant. Safety recommendations include locking vehicles, keeping valuables out of sight, and never leaving personal belongings unattended in public spaces.
For residents looking for a deeper dive into local crime trends, the department will discuss these statistics in detail during next Friday’s episode of the Protect and Connect podcast.
