The Clemson women’s basketball team travels to Blacksburg, Virginia, on Thursday to face Virginia Tech, looking to build on a stretch where the Tigers have won eight of their last 10 games.
Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the game streaming live on ACCNX.
The Tigers (14-17 all-time against the Hokies) are coming off a 78-71 overtime victory against Wake Forest on Sunday. That win marked the 75th career coaching victory for Shawn Poppie. Senior guard Rachael Rose led Clemson with 20 points, while senior Mia Moore set a program record by scoring 10 points in the overtime period alone.
Virginia Tech enters the matchup on a three-game winning streak. The Hokies won the most recent meeting between the schools, 78-76, in March 2025.
National defensive leaders
Clemson enters the week ranked 41st in the NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) rankings. The Tigers’ success has been rooted in a defense that leads the Atlantic Coast Conference, allowing just 57 points per game—the 32nd-best mark in the nation.
Offensively, the Tigers lead the ACC in 3-pointers per game (8.7). Junior Rusne Augustinaite leads the perimeter attack, averaging 2.6 triples per game, while Moore ranks fourth in the conference with 5.3 assists per contest.
Kennedy-Dixon headed to Hall of Fame
The program also celebrated a historic milestone this week with the announcement that late Clemson legend Barbara Kennedy-Dixon will be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
Kennedy-Dixon remains the all-time leading scorer in both Clemson and ACC history with ,3113 points. She is one of only eight players in NCAA history to record at least 3,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. The induction ceremony is set for June 27 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Recruiting and award honors
The momentum continues off the court for Poppie, who is in his second year at Clemson. The Tigers’ 2026 signing class is ranked No. 4 nationally by 247Sports, marking the highest-rated class in program history. The group includes five highly touted prospects: Trinity Jones, Kimora Fields, Julia Scott, Meeyah Green and Dyarri Braddick.
On the individual front, Rose was recently named one of 20 players nationally to the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year preseason watch list. Rose is one of six ACC players recognized for the award.
