Aidan O’Hara was recently recognized for an outstanding season by being named the Fort Mill High School JV Skill Player of the Year. The announcement highlighted not only his impressive on-field statistics across offense, defense, and special teams but also the exemplary character and coachability he brings to the team.
A Quiet Leader’s Explosive Performance
Coach McManus emphasized O’Hara’s quiet confidence, humility, and toughness, noting that he is the kind of player every program dreams of having. “Aidan is not someone who seeks the spotlight, but his play leaves us no choice but to shine it directly on him,” the coach stated. When the game was tough and the team needed someone to respond, Aidan consistently answered the call.
O’Hara’s statistics demonstrate his versatility and ability to hurt defenses in every possible way.
Season Highlights
Offense
Aidan was a dominant force on the ground and through the air:
-
Rushing: He rushed the ball 96 times for 602 yards.
-
Rushing Touchdowns: He found the end zone 15 times on the ground.
-
Receiving: He hauled in 11 catches for 135 yards and two more touchdowns.
-
He also added a two-point conversion to his offensive tally.
Special Teams
O’Hara became a “spark plug” on special teams, providing a crucial momentum shift when needed. He was noted for returning eight punts for 164 yards and a touchdown.
Defense
Perhaps the “most fitting highlight” of his season was a play that perfectly summed up his value: a 26-yard interception returned for a touchdown. This defensive score didn’t show up on his offensive stat line but proved his ability to deliver wherever the team needed him.
Setting the Standard
Beyond the stats, O’Hara was celebrated for his exceptional character. He is described as a humble and quiet kid who celebrates his teammates, never complains, and never makes excuses. He only ever asked for the opportunity to help his team win.
Players like Aidan, who can be coached hard and will adjust to go execute with everything they have, “make coaches better” and set the standard for everyone around them.
Coach McManus lauded O’Hara as explosive, dependable, and exciting to watch. More importantly, he is a leader in his own way—by example, effort, toughness, and heart.
For a season the coaches are sure they will be talking about for a long time, it was an honor to recognize Aidan O’Hara as the JV Skill Player of the Year.
