Columbia, S.C. — Tega Cay baker Michelle Marcsik captured first place at the South Carolina State Fair with a show-stopping tiered cake, earning top honors in the Home & Craft Department (Division 335 – Foods – Decorated Cakes – Professional, Class 3503 – Special Occasion (Tiered)).
Competing in the Professional division, Marcsik’s entry impressed judges for precision, overall design balance, and flawless execution—key criteria in decorated cake competitions. Tiered “Special Occasion” cakes must combine structural stability with refined artistry, from clean edges and consistent textures to color harmony and creative theming. Marcsik’s cake excelled across the board, standing out in a strong field of professional decorators.
The South Carolina State Fair’s foods and crafts contests attract elite talent from across the state, making a blue-ribbon finish a high bar of achievement. Marcsik’s win adds to Tega Cay’s growing list of fair accolades and showcases the region’s thriving culinary arts community.
Congratulations to Michelle Marcsik on a well-deserved first-place finish at the South Carolina State Fair.
