As the fall regular season winds down, the focus shifts squarely to the playoffs and State Championships, promising thrilling competition across the Fort Mill School District. Early results in swimming show strong district performances, while other sports gear up for their final pushes toward a title.
District Swimmers Make a Splash at State
The State Swimming Championships, held from Thursday, October 9, through Saturday, October 11, at the USC Natatorium – Blatt Pool, highlighted the district’s aquatic talent.
- Women’s Swimming: Fort Mill narrowly missed their fourth consecutive championship, securing an impressive second place finish overall with 495.5 points. Nation Ford wasn’t far behind, taking third place with 289 points, while Catawba Ridge rounded out the top finishers for the district in fifth place with 262 points.
- Men’s Swimming: Fort Mill led the district’s men’s teams, finishing second overall with a stellar 452.5 total points. Nation Ford also secured a strong finish in fourth place with 266.5 points, and Catawba Ridge finished ninth with 127 total points.
Countdown to Championship Weekend
Teams in golf, volleyball, tennis, cross country, and football are now preparing for their shot at glory.
- Women’s Golf: The chase for the championship is set for Monday, October 27 and Tuesday, October 28.
- Volleyball:
- Men’s Volleyball State Championships will be held on Saturday, November 1, at AC Flora High School.
- Women’s Volleyball concludes its season with State Championships on Thursday, November 6 and Saturday, November 8 at Dreher High School.
- Women’s Tennis: The team championship is scheduled for Saturday, November 8 at Cayce Tennis Center, followed by the individual competition on Monday, November 10 and Tuesday, November 11.
- Cross Country: Runners will battle it out for State titles for both Men’s and Women’s on Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15 at Aiken Steeplechase.
- Football: The fall sports season culminates with the State Football Championships on Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6. The weekend will feature championship games for all classifications:
- Friday, December 5: 3A (12:00 PM), 1A (4:00 PM), and 5A-D2 (7:30 PM).
- Saturday, December 6: 4A (12:00 PM), 2A (4:00 PM), and 5A-D1 (7:30 PM).
