The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets continued its best start in years Friday night, riding a dominant defensive performance to a 33-7 victory over Blythewood. The win pushes the Yellow Jackets to 3-0 for the first time in recent memory.
Already leading 13-0 at the start of the second half, Fort Mill’s defense set the tone for the remainder of the game. A key interception by defensive back Devon Pascarella gave the Yellow Jackets prime field position at the Blythewood 26-yard line. Fort Mill capitalized on the turnover with a 1-yard rushing touchdown from Broden Mitcheson, extending the lead to 19-0. Noah Hardy’s successful extra-point kick made it 20-0.
The defense continued to hold Blythewood in check, forcing a punt and a turnover on downs in the third quarter. In the final period, the Yellow Jackets’ offense broke through again with a pair of 1-yard rushing touchdowns from Terrell Robinson and Andrew Kowalski (#15), respectively. Robinson’s score was followed by a good extra point from Hardy, pushing the lead to 27-0.
Fort Mill’s Jeremiah Young added to the defensive highlights with an interception in the fourth quarter.
Blythewood’s offense finally broke the shutout late in the game with a passing touchdown, bringing the final score to 33-7.
Fort Mill will look to remain undefeated when it hosts Lancaster this Friday.
