ROCK HILL — Former York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson was arrested Monday morning by the South Carolina Highway Patrol in connection with a hit-and-run incident.
According to a statement from the York County Sheriff’s Office, Tolson was booked into the York County Detention Center at 11 a.m. and later released on a personal recognizance bond.
The Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. According to incident reports provided to media outlets, Tolson was involved in a crash on Airport Road in Rock Hill, where a vehicle struck a telephone pole and a nearby fence. He allegedly left the scene without reporting the accident. Investigators later identified Tolson as the driver.
The investigation remains ongoing.
