The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Jacob Austin Helms, 25, with Giving Beer to a Minor – 1st offense, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Jacob Helms provided alcohol to his brother, Jarod Helms, 18, who was arrested in North Carolina and charged with Felony Death by Vehicle while driving under the influence. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety Alcohol Law Enforcement Division requested that SLED investigate.

Helms was booked in the Lancaster County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by SLED in the Lancaster County Magistrate Court.
