The York County Finance and Operations Committee meeting on June 17th, 2024, discussed and approved funding for various organizations. Here are some of the organizations that received funding:

  • Positive Action Service Dogs in District One – $2500
  • Riverview Fire Department in District One – $1500
  • Fostering Families in District One – $1500
  • Defending the First in District One – $1500
  • Habitat for Humanity in District Two – $3567
  • Mayday Project in District Two – $1000
  • Kataba River Keepers in District Two – $1000
  • Clover Women’s Club in District Two – $1500
  • Camp Thunderbird in District Two – $4000
  • American Legion Post 66 in District Three – $595
  • Sharon Volunteer Fire Department in District Three – $1655
  • Feed the Hungry in District Six – $2000
  • Young Life in District Seven – $2000

Thomas Hyslip

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
