The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has denied York County’s request for Individual Assistance to address storm damage from last month. In a letter to Governor Henry McMaster, FEMA determined the damage was not severe enough to warrant federal assistance, stating that the state, local governments, and volunteer agencies could adequately handle the recovery efforts.
FEMA offered to connect the state with the Region IV Regional Administrator to explore resources available through other federal agencies, but emphasized that supplemental federal assistance is not necessary.
The denial, issued on May 22nd, can be appealed within 30 days.
