Shore Club Owner Writes Inspirational Book for the Masses

Have you ever woken up and decided to start writing?

I can honestly say that I have; however, that’s not unusual for a writer. It would be a little odd for someone who doesn’t necessarily write on a daily basis.

And yet, that’s exactly what happened to John Weinbrenner. On a trip to New York to visit his Mom, he woke up one morning and started writing.

As if writing a book wasn’t impressive enough, John had to find time to put pen to paper (or fingers to keys) in between his busy day job. He’s the owner of the Shore Club, which has become an institution for residents of Tega Cay who enjoy great food and entertainment options since he took ownership in 2016.

The book, Millennial Kingdom, The Resurrection, is John’s way of introducing the concept of Jesus and spirituality to a new generation. He’s hoping the book will help shape their minds and inspire them in a way that’s both approachable and makes for “cool reading.”

The back cover clearly states the message he’s attempting to convey, “the moral degradation of society has reached an all-time high. Integrity has been left by the wayside as the media promotes instant gratification and a dystopian dream. Only one thing can bring humankind salvation – the return of Jesus Christ.”

According to John, “I brought Jesus back in a very contemporary way.” He concedes that not everyone will agree with the way he depicts the son of God; however, he feels, “the way I brought him back, he would be a lot more accepted by the masses, not just the people who are religious.”

Originally from New York and raised Catholic, John considers himself to be more spiritual than religious. “I think that some religions need to find ways to make God and the Bible more interesting to young individuals so that they accept God and want him to be a part of their lives.”

Millennial Kingdom, The Resurrection is a fictional novel based on a lifetime of experiences. A lifetime that has seen John start and sell numerous restaurants and nightclubs, including multiple City Taverns throughout the Charlotte area.

The mortgage implosion of 2008-2010 resulted in a shift to John’s original business strategy, eventually closing the last City Tavern in 2018.

This opened the door for another opportunity. City leaders eventually convinced him to put in a bid to assume the restaurant lease in Tega Cay. He now has ownership of the clubhouse restaurant, turn house, beverages for the golf course and the Glennon Center event space.

What would inspire a successful restaurateur to write a book? Let’s call it life experience.

John was constantly asking himself the same questions: Why are lyrics in music so bad? Why are shows so explicit? Why is it all out in the open?

From sex and violence in entertainment to the daily temptations associated with the internet, we’re constantly bombarded with optics that would’ve been considered taboo not too long ago.

Simply put, John saw some bad in our society and wondered what he could do to create something positive and inspirational. He sees Millennial Kingdom, The Resurrection as his gift to the world.

He’d like to have it serve as a positive influence to hopefully help all of us be nicer to our fellow neighbors. “Now, everything goes. God should be more important to people,” said John.
