The Tega Cay Men’s Golf Association Celebrates the 2nd Annual Tega Cay Cup Competition

In the heart of Tega Cay, the Men’s Golf Association recently concluded its much-anticipated event of the year, the Tega Cay Cup, marking a season of rigorous competition among its members. The Cup, a season-long point standings competition for the 2023 tournaments, culminated in a weekend filled with outstanding golf, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. The top 24 players of the season qualified for this prestigious event, leading to a showdown that will be remembered for years to come.

The Captains and Their Teams

This year, the Cup was led by two exceptional captains: Jim Mowery, finishing first in the qualifiers and heading Team Mowery (TM), and Bruce Fonte, who came in second place and led Team Fonte (TF). Both captains, with their strategic picks, assembled teams that showcased the depth and talent within the Tega Cay Men’s Golf Association.

Team Fonte emerged victorious with a 21 – 15 win over Team Mowery, a testament to the tight matches and high level of play exhibited by both teams. The victory was a culmination of strategy, skill, and perhaps a little bit of the golfing gods’ favor.

Saturday’s Highlights

Saturday saw some fierce matchups, with points closely contested. The pairing of Connor Coldwater and Dave Frascona from Team Mowery clinched 2 points early on, setting the tone for the day. However, Team Fonte responded in kind, with victories from Bruce Fonte and Dale Grizer, among others, balancing the scales.
