York County Sheriff’s Office Accepting Applications for 2024 Citizens Academy

YORK COUNTY, SC – The York County Sheriff’s Office is currently taking applications for the 2024 Citizen’s Police Academy. Citizen’s police academy will consist of six sessions offered on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 at the Moss Justice Center in York. The classes will begin on February 19, 2024, and ends with a formal graduation on March 25th, 2024.

The Citizens’ Police Academy will introduce participants to the various functions of the York County Sheriff’s Office and will feature instruction by staff from the different divisions of the Sheriff’s Office. The goal of the Citizens’ Police Academy, in addition to providing an overview of the Sheriff’s Office, is to create meaningful partnerships with the citizens of York County and give the Sheriff’s Office the ability to serve our citizens better and more efficiently through the open exchange of knowledge and communication.

The Citizens’ Police Academy class is open to adults, 18 years of age and older, and is provided free of charge. The class size is limited to the first 25 approved applicants.

Applications will be accepted through January 22nd, 2024, or until the class is filled. Applications are available at the York County Sheriff’s Office website, www.yorkcountysheriff.com.
