Samnang Nos, 79, Tega Cay

Samnang Nos (79) of Tega Cay, South Carolina passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC after suffering a heart attack.

Samnang was born on June 16, 1945, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Sam Nos & Chea Sarem-Nos. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Technical University of Phnom Penh in 1971. He received a Master of Science degree in Food Technology from Reading University in England in 1975.

In 1976, Samnang met Veasna in London, England. They were married on July 10, 1976. They had three children together: Sonny, Romy and Destin.

During his time in the UK, Samnang worked for The Campden Food Research Company (1975- 1977), The APV Company UK (1977-1980), and Cadbury Schwepps (1980-1983).

In 1983, Samnang accepted a job at Nestle R&D (1983-2008) in Marysville, Ohio. He arrived in the United States in September of 1983, and became a US Citizen in 1984.

After retiring from Nestle in 2008, Samnang enjoyed traveling to many places with Veasna. They especially enjoyed going on cruises together and had just returned from a Caribbean cruise in September 2024. He also enjoyed gardening, reading, working out at the YMCA, cooking and spending time with family.

Sam will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather (Ta). He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Veasna; his three sons: Sonny (wife Rachel), Romy (wife Rebecca) and Destin (wife Sara); nine grandchildren: Ezra & Ethan (Sonny &Rachel), Samuel, Justus, Everest, Keziah & Faith (Romy & Rebecca), Mikai & Kade (Destin & Sara).

Sam & Veasna attended the Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Ft, Mill, SC. It is a great comfort to his family that he confessed Jesus as his Savior before his passing.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 am and a celebration of Sam’s life will follow at 12:00 pm (Noon) at Palmetto Funeral Home (2049 Carolina Place Dr. Ft Mill, SC 29708) on Saturday,  October 12, 2024.
