FORT MILL, SC — The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) recently released the latest SC READY, EOC (End of Course) and Career Readiness Assessments scores for schools and districts across the state, and the Fort Mill School District is proud to announce that we continue to achieve academically at very high levels. These results underscore our district’s commitment to educational excellence and our ongoing efforts to provide the highest quality education to our students.
The SC READY assessment scores are key indicators of student performance, and the Fort Mill School District has once again far exceeded the state average in every category. Our district not only surpasses the state averages but also outperforms nearly every other comparable district in South Carolina.
In its release, the SCDE specifically highlighted the Fort Mill School District for our outstanding achievement in reaching the state’s rigorous 75% proficiency goals. The district was recognized as one of the top-performing districts in the state, achieving or surpassing the 75% proficiency mark in multiple grade levels:
- ELA (Grades 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8): Met or surpassed the 75% proficiency goals.
- Math (Grade 3): Exceeded the 75% proficiency goal, with 76% of students meeting or exceeding standards.
This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff, and it reflects the high standards we set for academic achievement in the Fort Mill School District.
EOC and Career Readiness assessments are critical for ensuring that students are prepared for the academic challenges of college and the demands of the modern workforce. The Fort Mill School District achieved or surpassed the 75% proficiency mark on the EOC assessments in English II, Biology I, and US History and the Constitution.
FMSD was the only district in the state to meet this benchmark in three of the four EOC assessments.
The district also achieved the 75% proficiency goals in all areas of the Career Readiness Assessment. We were the only district in the state to achieve this mark.
While we will provide a more detailed analysis of these results at a future school board meeting, we want to share this overview with our community now, as the data becomes public today. Individual schools within our district have received more detailed reports and are already using this information to enhance and refine their improvement plans.
Superintendent Dr. Chuck Epps expressed pride in the district’s achievements, stating, “We should all be proud of our academic performance. Each year, we compare our district’s scores to those of other districts across South Carolina, and the results consistently show that our students, teachers, and staff are working hard to maintain our tradition of excellence.”
The Fort Mill School District remains committed to continuous improvement and to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed. We look forward to sharing a comprehensive breakdown of our SC Ready, Career Readiness, and EOC scores and to continuing our work to provide the best possible educational outcomes for all our students.
