Fort Mill Town Council Meeting, August 12th

The Fort Mill Town Council met on August 12th and covered the following issues:
  1. Public Comment: A resident raised concerns about a neglected property on Forest Street, citing it as a health and safety hazard. The council acknowledged the issue and discussed the slow governmental process in addressing such problems.
  2. Stormwater Interns Presentation: A group of interns presented their summer work, including creek cleanups, participation in the Adopt-A-Stream program, and educational events for the community. They highlighted environmental stewardship and engagement with local schools and residents.
  3. Ordinance Discussions: The council reviewed ordinances on parking standards for ambulatory surgical facilities, reflecting the growing need for specialized medical infrastructure in the area. A proposed annexation at the intersection of Fort Mill Parkway and Holbrook Road was deferred to a future meeting due to concerns about traffic safety, particularly regarding left turns at the intersection.
