Fort Mill, SC – The Town of Fort Mill announced today via social media that it has contracted a company to demolish the Hardee’s building located at the intersection of Main and Tom Hall streets.
The demolition is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 8, pending weather conditions. As part of the preparation, parking in the lot will be restricted, and barriers will be erected around the area to ensure safety.
As previously reported by the Tega Cay Sun, the property was acquired by the town earlier this year as a way to help alleviate parking congestion downtown. This marked the culmination of a multi-year effort to expand parking options for the town’s thriving business district.
Following the planned demolition of the existing structure, the necessary areas will be paved and the property will undergo landscaping enhancements. Upon completion, the site is expected to provide over 70 additional free parking spaces for public use.
Residents and visitors are advised to avoid the area during the demolition process and to follow any posted signage for alternative parking options.
