Mrs. Joan Mafalda Rand, 91, of Tega Cay, SC died Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Wellmore of Tega Cay. A service from graveside will be held Noon Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Sunset Memory Gardens with Father Peter of St. John Neumann Catholic Church officiating.
Mrs. Rand was born October 31, 1932, in Queens, NY daughter of the late Domenico and Concetta Simonetti Rosano. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Alfred Warren Rand, and siblings Helen, Palma, John, Edith, and Virginia. Mrs. Rand is survived by son, Ronald W. Rand and his wife, Sheryl; daughter Jacquelyn R. Poplin and her husband, Marty; grandchildren, Austin Poplin, Nicholas Rand, Stephanie Lancaster and her husband, Steven; great grandchildren Sophia and Steven Lancaster.
In 1960, Mrs. Rand and husband moved from NY to Charlotte, NC where during the next 38 years, raised her family while working as a bookkeeper for K-Mart and Belk Department stores. In 1998, after the death of her husband, she moved to Charleston, SC. Due to declining health earlier this year, she moved closer to her daughter.
