Salt & Spa Tega Cay will introduce a unique wellness experience featuring halotherapy, personalized spa treatments, and a thoughtfully designed retreat for relaxation and renewal.
TEGA CAY, S.C. — A new wellness destination is coming to our community, offering residents a fresh way to relax, recharge, and explore a different approach to self-care.
Salt & Spa Tega Cay is preparing to open behind ACE Hardware on Gold Hill Road, in the former location of Sanctuary Massage & Facial Spa. The family-owned business will feature himalayan salt rooms, massage therapy, customized skincare treatments, and a variety of spa experiences.
At the heart of the concept is halotherapy, commonly known as dry salt therapy. Inspired by natural salt caves and mines found throughout Europe, halotherapy involves breathing air containing microscopic salt particles in a controlled environment.
The history of salt-based wellness dates back centuries. In the 19th century, a Polish physician observed that salt mine workers appeared to experience fewer respiratory problems than expected. His observations helped spark interest in salt-rich environments.
For owner Nina, bringing this concept to the community is about more than opening a unique spa. It is also deeply personal. With more than a decade of experience in luxury retail, spa, marketing, and business development, Nina has developed a passion for personalized service, elevated guest experiences, and holistic wellness. That passion grew even stronger through her family’s journey navigating her oldest daughter’s severe eczema.
After exploring numerous options with dermatologists and allergists, the family noticed what they perceived as an improvement in their daughter’s skin after spending time in the ocean. “From prescription steroid creams to over-the-counter products, we had explored just about everything we could before realizing the most noticeable differences came from time spent in the ocean. Seeing that experience firsthand inspired us to bring a unique experience like this to our community,” Nina shared.
A longtime Tega Cay-area resident, wife, and mother of two, Nina graduated Summa Cum Laude from Johnson & Wales University – Charlotte and hopes to create something truly special. While the salt rooms will be a signature feature, Salt & Spa Tega Cay is designed to offer much more than a traditional spa experience. Planned services include couples massages, a steam shower, customized facials, body treatments, and curated day packages that allow guests to enjoy several hours of relaxation in one setting.
The spa will bring together experienced massage therapists, estheticians, and wellness professionals, with an emphasis on personalized service and a welcoming atmosphere.
“Community is really important to me. I want people to feel welcomed, cared for, and comfortable the moment they walk through our doors,” Nina explained.
As a family-owned business, Salt & Spa Tega Cay hopes to offer something different from a traditional spa chain: a place where guests can slow down, unwind, build relationships, and make time for themselves.
As Salt & Spa Tega Cay prepares to welcome its first guests, the goal is to create an inviting wellness destination that combines personalized care, elevated experiences, and a renewed sense of balance and relaxation.
Breathe deeply, Tega Cay. A new wellness experience is on the horizon.
