With less than a week remaining before the Nov. 3 general election, Republican Attorney General nominee David Stumbo has secured endorsements from 31 South Carolina sheriffs, including law enforcement leaders from Chester, Lancaster and York counties.
The sheriffs cited Stumbo’s more than 20 years of prosecutorial experience and his focus on supporting law enforcement, protecting victims and holding violent criminals accountable.
Stumbo serves as solicitor for South Carolina’s Eighth Judicial Circuit, where he has prosecuted violent criminals, drug traffickers and repeat offenders while working with law enforcement officers and deputies.
The endorsing sheriffs represent communities across the state, from the Upstate to the Lowcountry. They include Chester County Sheriff Max Dorsey, Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile and York County Sheriff Tony Breeden.
Other endorsers include sheriffs from Greenville, Charleston, Beaufort, Horry, Spartanburg and Lexington counties, among others.
Stumbo’s campaign has emphasized bringing his prosecutorial experience and relationships with law enforcement to the state’s attorney general’s office.
The endorsement announcement comes during the final stretch of the campaign, with the general election scheduled for Nov. 3.
