Fort Mill put up a strong fight against a formidable Northwestern squad, but ultimately fell 49-20 on Friday night.

Game Recap & Scoring Breakdown

  • First Quarter (Northwestern 21, Fort Mill 7): Northwestern came out firing, jumping to an early 14-0 lead behind two quick rushing scores orchestrated by quarterback Xavier Means. Fort Mill responded fiercely when they connected on a passing touchdown followed by a Noah Hardy PAT to cut the deficit to 14-7. However, Northwestern answered right back with an 80-yard bomb from Means to Kadin Vassel just before the quarter ended, making it 21-7.

  • Second Quarter (Northwestern 35, Fort Mill 13): Northwestern extended their lead to 35-7 following a 37-yard rushing touchdown by Means and a passing strike to Payton Vining. Fort Mill showed great resilience right before the half, stringing together a late passing touchdown drive to bring the score to 35-13 at the break.

  • Third Quarter (Northwestern 49, Fort Mill 20): Out of the locker room, Northwestern continued to apply pressure, adding two more scores—including a touchdown pass to Malik Ratliff. Fort Mill refused to back down, firing back with a long pass to Keegan Heisler that set up another touchdown pass and a successful Hardy PAT to make it 49-20.

  • Fourth Quarter: Both defenses tightened up in the final frame. Fort Mill mounted a deep drive into Northwestern territory late in the quarter, but a turnover on downs halted the march, and Northwestern ran out the clock to secure the victory.

Fort Mill’s Harper Love (#5) put up a valiant effort in his team’s loss Friday night to Northwestern High School.
