Winthrop University women’s soccer midfielder Lila Bowers has been named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week following an impressive performance against Presbyterian College.
Bowers scored twice in the Eagles’ 4-0 victory over Presbyterian on Wednesday night at Eagle Field, helping Winthrop secure its first conference win of the season.
The award marks Bowers’ first conference honor during her freshman season in Rock Hill and the second weekly conference award for the Winthrop women’s soccer team this year.
Bowers has made an early impact in her rookie campaign, recording two goals, two assists and six points. She has also taken 15 shots this season.
Her two-goal performance against Presbyterian helped the Eagles improve their standing in Big South play as they continue their conference schedule.
