Winthrop student-athletes, led by softball senior and Team Impact Fellow Emmy Cardenas, will host the university’s third annual Team Impact “All In 5K.” The synchronized national event brings campuses together across the country on the exact same day, raising critical funds and awareness to match children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses to college sports programs.
For Cardenas, who serves as the campus bridge between Winthrop Athletics and Team Impact, the mission is personal.
“I am so grateful to have witnessed and been a part of so many life changing experiences through Team Impact, and I know so many others also deserve the opportunity as well,” Cardenas said.
The event is designed to be fully inclusive. Participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to run, walk, roll, or simply show up to lend their support around the Winthrop Lake Loop.
Building on two years of momentum in Rock Hill, organisers are pushing to make this year’s turnout the largest yet — bringing together local families, healthcare partners, and Eagle student-athletes.
