Nation Ford Graduate Will Pursue a Career in Education
FORT MILL, S.C. – State Rep. Jackie Terribile announced that 2026 Nation Ford High School graduate Paige Thomas has been selected as a recipient of the General Assembly Women’s Caucus Representative Jackie Terribile Scholarship.
Thomas plans to study education and pursue a career as a teacher, following in her mother’s footsteps as an educator.
“I was proud to select Paige for this scholarship because she represents exactly the kind of young person we want entering our classrooms,” Terribile said. “She understands that being a great teacher is about more than academics. It is about building relationships with students, recognizing their individual strengths and helping them see their own potential.”
Terribile specifically chose to award the scholarship to a young woman pursuing a career in education. Last year, both of her scholarship recipients were also students preparing to become educators.
“Education has been an important part of my work in public service, and I believe one of the best investments we can make is encouraging talented young people to become teachers,” Terribile said. “Paige has a heart for students, and it makes this especially meaningful knowing that she is following in her mom’s footsteps. I am excited to see the difference she will make in the lives of her future students.”
Terribile represents South Carolina House District 66, which includes portions of Fort Mill and Tega Cay, and serves on the House Education and Public Works Committee.

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Associate Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
