The Fort Mill Town Council will gather for a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at 205 N. White Street. Council members are set to navigate a comprehensive agenda that spans annual budget presentations, local development agreements, zoning revisions, and public hearings.
The meeting will open with three featured presentations. Joseph Berry with Palmetto Pride/Keep South Carolina Beautiful will present an Official Affiliate Certificate to the town, followed by a 2026 recap from Mina MacDonald on behalf of Keep Fort Mill Beautiful. Parks and Recreation Director Brown Simpson will then outline the proposed Parks and Recreation budget for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.
Public participation will feature prominently early in the evening with two scheduled public hearings:
-
Hospital Development Agreement: A second public hearing concerning a fourth amendment to the existing Development Agreement with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority.
-
Election Sign Regulations: A public hearing presented by Chris Pettit regarding proposed amendments to the Town’s Zoning Code governing election signs.
Following approval of previous meeting minutes and a dedicated period for citizen public comments—where signed-in residents receive three minutes to speak—the Council will vote on several key pieces of old business passing through second reading:
-
Annexation & Rezoning (Ordinance 2026-32): Annexing approximately 10.98 acres across York County Tax Maps #661-00-00-030 and #658-00-00-106, with a rezoning request from General Commercial to Mixed-Use.
-
Hospital Agreement Amendment (Ordinance 2026-33): Authorizing the fourth amendment to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority agreement.
-
Election Signs (Ordinance 2026-34): Formalizing the updated zoning code standard for election signs.
-
Budget Amendment (Ordinance 2026-35): Enacting Amendment 26-09 to adjust the FY 2025-2026 budget for Academy Street projects.
Under new business, Council members will take action on Resolution 2026-36 to accept the streets within the Arden Mill neighborhood into the municipal street maintenance system. Additionally, the Council will consider new appointments to the Accommodations Tax (A-Tax) Committee and vote to establish the property tax millage rate for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.
The meeting will conclude with council member comments followed by an executive session to discuss contractual matters regarding the potential sale or purchase of land.
