SCHSL Expands Executive Team with Hiring of John Combs and Cindy Robarge-Esposito

The South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) announced two key additions to its leadership team this week. Interim Commissioner Amy Boozer officially welcomed John Combs as Assistant Commissioner and Cindy Robarge-Esposito as Director of Technology on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Combs steps into the role of Assistant Commissioner following a three-year stint as Athletic Director at Spring Valley High School. A veteran figure in South Carolina high school athletics, Combs brings decades of coaching and administrative experience across the Midlands, including prior roles at Ben Lippen School, Ridge View High School, and Silver Bluff High School. Notably, he led Ridge View to its first-ever state championship game appearance in 2011, securing the SCHSL Lower State title. Since 2006, Combs has served on the executive board of the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (SCBCA), where he currently holds the position of Executive Director/Secretary Treasurer.

“We are excited to welcome John to the League and are confident that his extensive experience in athletic leadership throughout our state will make an immediate and lasting impact,” said Boozer. “Throughout his career, John has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and service.”

Robarge-Esposito joins the SCHSL as Director of Technology after teaching computer science at Beechwood Middle School for the past five years. She brings more than two decades of educator experience in media technology, web design, live streaming, and digital communications, alongside a standout athletic background. A former four-year starter for the University of South Carolina volleyball team, Robarge-Esposito was the first South Carolina native to earn All-SEC honors in volleyball and was inducted into the Spring Valley High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023. She has also coached volleyball at the collegiate, high school, and club levels for over 20 years.

“Cindy brings a unique blend of knowledge and experience to her role as Director of Technology,” Boozer noted. “Her extensive background in technology, combined with her passion for teaching and supporting others, will be a tremendous asset to our membership.”

Both hires step into their new administrative roles immediately.
