Winthrop Sponsors Nationwide Political Survey

In collaboration with YouGov, an international research firm, Winthrop polled residents across the country about politics, marking its first nationwide Winthrop Poll.

Released on Winthrop’s website on July 10, the poll covers Trump’s approval, economics, foreign policy, American identity, the Epstein Files and more, surveying 2,150 individual respondents over the age of 18.

Dr. Huffmon, a political science professor and director of the Center for Public Opinion and Policy Research, provided analysis of the dataset, viewable above the poll’s raw data.

Going forward, Winthrop plans to further collaborate with YouGov, allowing nationwide results to “contextualize the opinions of South Carolinians relative to the nation in a consistent manner,” Winthrop said on its website, continuing to poll locally in the South.

YouGov, a global research data and analytics group, has been a pioneer and innovator in online polling with consistent cutting-edge methodology,” the university said in a press release.

Additionally, Winthrop is a Charter Member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research Transparency Initiative, requiring full disclosure in collaboration with YouGov, a signatory to the initiative, the website states. This membership requires the Winthrop Poll to fully disclose its research methodology and data sources.

Future releases of the summer 2026 Winthrop Poll will address opinions on Confederate flags and monuments, as well as general political polarization, their website added.

Data tables, alongside a full analysis of the data and methodology, are available here.
