ROCK HILL, S.C. — A Clover man is in custody and facing a murder charge after a Saturday night shooting on Mount Gallant Road that left a Rock Hill teenager dead, according to the Rock Hill Police Department.
Officers responded around 11 p.m. on May 16 to a reported shooting at a residence on the 700 block of Mount Gallant Road, near Anderson Road. When they arrived, they found an 18 year old victim with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The York County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Camariya Tidwell of Rock Hill.
Suspect Taken Into Custody After SWAT Operation
Detectives identified the suspect as 34 year old Sean Xavier Hubbard of Clover. Around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, the York County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest on Fig Branch Road following a SWAT activation. Rock Hill Police confirmed the SWAT presence was connected to the Mount Gallant Road homicide.
Charges
Hubbard was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Police said he was issued an additional warrant for discharging a firearm into a dwelling, stemming from a separate incident in which he allegedly fired into the same Mount Gallant Road residence at a time when no one was home.
