The Tega Cay Men’s Golf Association staged its Red Tee Special tournament on Saturday, with golfers playing a two man shamble from the forward tees in a format that drew strong reviews from participants and organizers alike.
Teams were set through a random draw pairing one A player with one B player based on handicap. The shamble format required each golfer to use at least two of his own drives per nine holes, adding a layer of strategy to a setup that already favored aggressive play from the red tees.
The format earned high marks from the Association, with organizers noting the tournament will return to the schedule.
