Fort Mill Cruises Past Rival Nation Ford in 14-5 Road Victory

Cam Wilcox scored five goals and Carson Maloney added a hat trick as Fort Mill dominated cross-town rival Nation Ford 14-5 on Thursday night, solidifying their standing near the top of the 5A District 3 region.

The Yellow Jackets (12-3, 7-1) used a balanced offensive attack and a suffocating defense to keep the Falcons (7-8, 4-4) at bay throughout the contest. Fort Mill set the tone early with a 3-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, outscoring Nation Ford in every frame.

Fort Mill’s Charlie McGuire (5) scored twice against division rival Nation Ford in Wednesday night’s matchup.

Wilcox was the focal point of the Yellow Jackets’ offense, finishing with six total points. Maloney was equally efficient, recording three goals and three assists. Senior Charlie McGuire and sophomore Moses Bowser each chipped in two goals to help Fort Mill pull away.

Foster was nearly perfect in the faceoff circle, winning 18 of 20 draws (90%) to provide Fort Mill with a continuous stream of possessions. Defensively, junior goalkeeper Sean Sholtis anchored the unit with five saves, allowing only four goals during his 45 minutes of action.

Nation Ford struggled to find a rhythm against the Yellow Jackets’ pressure. The loss drops the Falcons to a .500 record in region play as they look toward their regular-season finale.

Fort Mill will look to carry this momentum into next Thursday when they host Westside for Senior Night, their final tune-up before the postseason. Nation Ford returns to action Monday at home against Christ the King, where they will also celebrate their senior class.
