Fort Mill, Clover Split Lacrosse Doubleheader; Soccer, Softball Rivalries Take Center Stage Tonight

Rivalry week between Fort Mill and Clover high schools saw a split on the lacrosse turf Monday night, as the two programs traded dominant victories in varsity action.

Blue Eagles Take Boys Matchup

In the boys’ varsity contest, the Clover Blue Eagles utilized a high-powered offense and a stout home-field defense to secure a 12-7 victory over the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets.

The win served as redemption for Clover (10-2, 6-1 Region), who dropped a narrow 9-8 decision to the Yellow Jackets back in March. By flipping the script, the Blue Eagles bolstered their standing in the South Carolina Class 5A rankings and improved their home record to a perfect 7-0. Clover’s defense was the story of the night, holding a potent Fort Mill attack to just seven goals — well below the Jackets’ season average of 11.4.

Yellow Jackets Dominate Girls’ Contest

While the Clover boys celebrated at home, the Fort Mill girls’ varsity team made a statement of their own. Hosting the Blue Eagles, the Lady Yellow Jackets showcased their offensive depth in a commanding 15-5 victory.

The win continues a strong season for the Fort Mill girls, who utilized quick transitions and efficient finishing to put the game out of reach early. The 10-goal margin of victory highlights the Yellow Jackets’ status as a top contender in the region as the postseason approaches.
