It was a banner Friday for local baseball as both Fort Mill and Nation Ford programs secured pivotal Region 3-5A victories, navigating very different paths to find the win column.
Jackets Sting Early in Blowout of Rock Hill
The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets (5-7, 4-4) left no doubt in their series finale against the Rock Hill Bearcats, cruising to a 15-3 victory. The tone was set on the very first pitch of the game when Ivan Conrad launched a leadoff home run, sparking a three-run first inning.
Falcons Use Late Surge to Cage Warriors
Across town, the Nation Ford Falcons (9-4, 3-3) faced a test against Indian Land. After holding a narrow 3-2 lead through two innings, the Falcons saw the game knotted at 3-3 in the fifth. However, a massive seven-run outburst in the sixth inning broke the game open, securing a 10-4 win
Softball: Mixed Results Across the County
While the baseball diamonds were hot, the softball fields saw a split in fortunes for Fort Mill area teams:

Nation Ford 7, Clover 5: The Falcons (11-3, 4-1) took their show on the road, leaning on a complete-game performance from Paizlei Ross. Jackie Knol and Maci Ladamus tallied two hits apiece to keep Nation Ford near the top of the region standings.

Catawba Ridge 11, Rock Hill 1: The Copperheads (10-7, 4-1) made short work of the Bearcats in a six-inning mercy rule win

Indian Land 10, Fort Mill 2: It was a night to forget for the Yellow Jackets (6-8, 1-2), who struggled with five defensive errors. Mallory Moore accounted for half of the team’s hits in the loss.
