STATESBORO, GA — Two local students have been recognized for outstanding academic performance at Georgia Southern University, earning spots on the President’s List for the Fall 2025 semester.
Georgia Southern University announced the honors on Tuesday, recognizing approximately 2,630 students across all campuses who achieved the highest level of academic success for the term. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must maintain a perfect 4.0 grade point average while carrying a full-time course load of at least 12 credit hours.
The local students named to the list are:

Christian Dickinson of Fort Mill

Brandon Stoner of Indian Land
These students are among the top tier of scholars at Georgia Southern, a public Carnegie Doctoral/R2 institution serving nearly 31,600 students. The university offers approximately 149 degree programs and operates campuses in Statesboro, Savannah, Hinesville, and Swainsboro, alongside its online instruction.

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
