Fort Mill Bands Sweep Weekend Marching Competitions

Fort Mill School District high school marching bands had a sweeping weekend of competition, with Catawba Ridge, Fort Mill and Nation Ford high schools all earning top honors at regional events.

Catawba Ridge High School’s band traveled to Coastal Carolina University for the Bands of America Carolina Regional, where it was named Regional Class Champion. The band also received awards for Outstanding Music Performance and Outstanding General Effect. Catawba Ridge advanced to the finals competition and finished second overall.

Fort Mill High School’s band took home the Grand Champion trophy at the Charger Cup in Concord, N.C. The band earned the top score of the day and a host of awards, including Best Music, Best Visual, Best Overall Effect, Best Percussion, Best Color Guard and first place in its class.

Nation Ford High School’s band captured the C. Phillip McIntyre Tournament of Bands Gold Division Grand Championship at Byrnes High School. The band also won Best Color Guard and took first place in its class, Division VII.

The Catawba Ridge band will host the BandBEAT Marching Band Championship on Saturday, welcoming 25 bands from across North and South Carolina. Nation Ford will also compete in the event.
