Dr. Steven L. Haleo, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, passed away on September 2, 2025, at the age of 69, after a brief illness. Dr. Haleo is survived by his wife, Sylvia Haleo, and his sister, Ellen Haleo Moore.
Dr. Haleo practiced optometry at his Charlotte, North Carolina office, Vision Therapy Center of Charlotte. He grew up on Long Island, New York. Before opening his office in Charlotte, he maintained an optometric practice in Avon, Connecticut. He obtained his undergraduate degree at Binghamton University in Upstate New York and received a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry.
A graveside funeral service will take place on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 1pm at Mt. Ararat Cemetery in Lindenhurst, LI, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dr. Haleo may be made to the South Carolina Optometric Association, 2730 Devine Street, Columbia, SC 29205 or the Sephardic Temple of Cedarhurst, 775 Branch Blvd., Cedarhurst, NY 11516.
