RIVER TRAIL TEACHER NAMED ELEMENTARY PE TEACHER OF THE YEAR

FORT MILL, SC — Merri Martin, a Physical Education teacher at River Trail Elementary School, was named the Elementary School Teacher of the Year by the South Carolina Association of Physical Education and Sport.

The honor recognizes teachers who exemplify excellence in teaching and create an exceptional learning environment for their students.

Ms. Martin will be recognized at the South Carolina Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance award ceremony as part of their annual conference.

“This is an incredible honor and a well-deserved recognition of her passion, dedication, and impact,” said Principal Savannah Steger. “We are so proud of her accomplishment!”

Thomas Hyslip

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
