SLED Rescues 10 Dogs, Charges Beaufort County Man With Animal Fighting and ILL Treatment of Animals

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Spencer Lamont Moultrie, 54, with Animal Fighting or Baiting and Ill Treatment of Animals on Monday, August 11, 2025.

During the operation, 10 dogs were placed with the Humane World for Animals organization for veterinary care.

The Beaufort County Animal Control, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.

Details can be found in the warrants shown below.

Moultrie was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the 14th Circuit Court Solicitor’s Office.
