Teenager Injured in Zoar Road Shooting Near Tega Cay

An 18-year-old was injured in a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning on Zoar Road in Charlotte, close to the South Carolina state line and the Tega Cay area, according to WCNC. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) is actively investigating the incident.

The shooting happened a little before 2 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025, WCNC reported. According to authorities, the victim sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, the victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, and they are expected to recover.

The injured teenager reportedly told police they did not know the person who shot them, WCNC stated. As of now, law enforcement is searching for the suspect responsible for the shooting.

Zoar Road runs through the Steele Creek area of Charlotte, a growing community that borders Tega Cay, South Carolina. The proximity to the state line often means that incidents in this area can draw attention from residents on both sides of the border.

CMPD is urging anyone with information about this shooting or any other criminal activity to contact Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and may be eligible for a reward. The investigation remains ongoing.
