Fort Mill High School senior Jacob Pettit has been named Athlete of the Week, recognizing his outstanding performance on the baseball field.
Pettit delivered an impressive week at the plate, posting a .667 batting average. In nine at-bats, he recorded six hits, including four home runs—one of which was a grand slam—and tallied eight RBIs.
The Fort Mill High School Athletic Booster Club and Super Chix sponsored this week’s award, which honors student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in competition and sportsmanship.

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
