YORK COUNTY, S.C. – York County has officially appointed Mitch Miller as its new Director of Economic Development, following his tenure as deputy director and interim director since last summer.
Miller, who brings over 15 years of experience in economic development, is known for his ability to foster relationships and drive strategic growth. His leadership will be key in attracting and retaining businesses that strengthen York County’s economy and enhance the community’s quality of life.
Before joining York County, Miller served as Chief Operating Officer of the Northeast Tennessee Regional Hub, where he focused on business development and workforce retention. His previous roles include CEO of the Northeast Tennessee Regional Economic Partnership and CEO of the Washington County Economic Development Council. He also has experience as Director of Marketing and Business Recruitment for the Tri-Cities Regional Alliance and as Business Development Manager for the Lincoln County Economic Development Association in North Carolina.
York County Manager Josh Edwards praised Miller’s leadership and vision.
“Mitch is focused on growing economic opportunities for York County citizens so we can continue to be a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” Edwards said. “He has worked with County Council to begin implementing York County’s 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, focusing on people and industries that make York County special, like our farmers and small businesses.”
Assistant York County Manager Tom Couch echoed the sentiment.
“Mitch has demonstrated in his interim role that he is a strategic leader actively working to build relationships and economic opportunities for York County,” Couch said. “He will be a great community advocate whose focus is on creating jobs, capital investment, and growth with new and existing businesses.”
York County’s 2025-2027 Strategic Plan prioritizes economic growth by creating a business-friendly environment that supports local entrepreneurs, promotes economic diversity, and strengthens partnerships. County officials are confident that Miller and his team will be instrumental in achieving these goals.
Miller expressed enthusiasm about his new role.
“I am honored to step into the role of Economic Development Director and look forward to building on York County’s success,” Miller said. “With so much potential to evolve and thrive, I’m excited to work alongside a dedicated team, community leaders, and stakeholders to continue strengthening our community and economic opportunities.”
